General expenditure allowance
MEPs receive a monthly expenditure allowance, the use of which Pirate MEPs will publish (see the certificates for correct spending in 2020, 2022 and 2023). A detailed overview on our expenses is available here. By clicking on an expense, the invoice of the payment can be viewed.
I have also receive passes for free travel with German and Belgian railways. The European Parliament covers our travel expenses on MEP business.
Parliamentary assistance allowance
MEPs receive a personnel budget of currently 28,000 euros per month (as of 2022). This budget can be used for local and accredited assistants. At the same time, we as MEPs are free to employ service providers for regular work, such as IT support or video editing. An overview of my assistants and service providers is published here. I have published the current breakdown of expenses from this budget (called Parliamentary Assistance Allowance) for the year 2020, the year 2021, the year 2022, the year 2023 and the year 2024.

I am a member of the German privacy NGO Working Group on Data Retention (Arbeitskreis Vorratsdatenspeicherung) as well as of Greenpeace, Mehr Demokratie e.V. and Reporter ohne Grenzen (RSF). I donate 70 € per month to the German Pirate Party (Schleswig-Holstein chapter).
